| Poverty doesn't just leave Avery without money and a baby to look after. It leaves her without choice, too. She doesn't have the luxury to choose a job she wants and all she can do is take the only job she can find that can pay for everything her young son needs. A phone operator for a sex hotline wasn't really what she had planned for her career, but it paid better than any job she could get as a checkout girl. And working at night meant that she could spend more time with her precious son, Connor. Paying the bills and being able to afford food and nappies was more important than her initial reservations, but it turned out she was good at it. More than good… Newspaper ads hidden away in the deepest darkest of pages and VHS mail order gave way to the Internet and webcams, and Avery's popularity grew with it. Soon she had her own website, her own business, and her small one bedroom flat turned into a four bedroom house in Surrey. Connor is now a teenager and though Avery can afford everything that she wants, the one thing she can't buy continues to elude her. Love.
